Liubov Voronkova was born and lived her entire life in Odesa. She met her husband here, gave birth to and raised three children here.
However, about 30 years ago, she lost her passport. Despite numerous attempts, Lyubov was unable to recover it on her own, which created many difficulties. Without documents, she was unable to officially get a job, receive social assistance, sign a declaration with a doctor, etc.
In July 2024, Liubov learned from a friend about the activities of the NGO ‘’The Tenth of April‘’ and turned to them for help. Thanks to the help of the organisation's lawyers, the woman received a duplicate birth certificate, educational documents, and documents confirming that she had received a passport from the former USSR.
In turn, employees of the Malynovskyi Department of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in Odesa Region helped to find her son and niece, who confirmed the woman's identity during the identification procedure. After many years of wandering, Lyubov was able to receive her new passport - a passport of a citizen of Ukraine.
In this way, Lyubov not only regained the ability to fully realise her rights, but also reunited with her family, who had lost contact with her many years ago. New opportunities are now open to her, and we are glad to be a part of this story with a happy ending.
The project is implemented with the support of UNHCR Ukraine.
